Dressing for the Cyclades

Dressing for the Cyclades

Raquel Allegra tie belt / Ancient Greek Sandals sandals / Madewell real leather purse / Vince Camuto golden jewelry / Michael Kors golden jewelry / Alexis Bittar punk jewelry / Miu Miu sunglasses / Tom Ford nude lipstick / Guerlain curling mascara / Estée Lauder perfume fragrance, $52 / Bobbi Brown Cosmetics pink shimmer nail polish

Perfect for exploring the island of Naxos....a good sundress, a comfortable pair of handmade sandals, and jewelry inspired by the sculptures of the Cyclades. I was inspired by the sculptures, but also the movie Before Midnight. In the movie, the couple dines and walks through the Greek countryside. The Mediterranean light is so strong and the atmosphere so palpable, it feels like you're there.

Dressing in Picasso's Nude on a Beach

Picasso's Nude on a Beach

Dolce & Gabbana stripe dress, $790 / Elizabeth and James . shoes / Chloé Mare beach bag tote / Gorjana leather bangle / Dorus Mhor cobalt blue jewelry, $110 / Forever New , $16 / Heart stud earrings / Lanvin band hat / Guerlain / Shiseido beauty product

Can't you just see both Marie-Therese Walter and Francoise Gilot wearing this dress on the beach? The colors are so Mediterranean.....bright yellows and greens and strong contrasts, just like the Mediterranean sunlight. I got a lot of ideas and inspiration from the film Surviving Picasso by James Ivory. Anthony Hopkins is marvelous as Picasso. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It's very summery!

Dressing in Rousseau's Tropical Imagination

Inspired by Rousseau

FAIR+true peplum top, $115 / Paul & Joe / Bottega Veneta tote / Lulu Frost bangle bracelet / Lace jewelry / Banana Republic fedora hat / Guerlain BALENCIAGA L'Essence / Color Club Fiesta Collection

This is what I imagine wearing while living in a Rousseau painting. There must be color, especially green, accents of warm colors, a hat for the sun, and sandals to keep cool.
